At SmileCOS Dentistry, our Colorado Springs dentists, Andrew Miller, DDS and Francisco Darquea, DDS, are proud to offer dental veneers to our patients to help fix damaged teeth. Crooked teeth, gaps, stained, or broken teeth can cause embarrassment and frustration – we do not want that to let you down; learn how dental veneers can help you.

Teeth Veneers: A Cosmetic Procedure

There is no embarrassment when you want a cosmetic dentistry procedure for your teeth. Your smile is important, and if it does not make you happy, you deserve a change. Dental veneers can offer that change without forcing you to undergo extensive dental procedures.

We offer dental veneers to repair your front teeth. Before we can place the veneers over your tooth, though, we must prepare the area. The veneer or laminate lays over your tooth. To make it a good fit, we must remove a small amount of your existing enamel so that you can comfortably close your lips and talk.

Should You Get Dental Veneers?

We offer a variety of cosmetic dentistry services, including teeth veneers. So how do you know which option is right for you? Our Colorado Springs cosmetic dentists will provide you with your options so that you can tell which restoration will have the best outcome in your mouth. In general, though, patients with minor stains, small chips or cracks, or a gap in between his or her teeth are the best candidates for dental veneers.

Your oral health should be in good condition, meaning that you do not have any stage of gum disease or oral cancer. The dental veneers go over your existing teeth, but they cannot be whitened. If you have issues with the color of your teeth, we recommend that you get our teeth whitening service before getting dental veneers so that your teeth look uniform.

Caring for Dental Veneers

With proper care, your dental veneers should last between 10 and 15 years. Proper care simply means brushing and flossing twice a day, as you should, even before you had veneers. Good oral hygiene not only keeps your teeth and veneers looking good, but it also helps fight the risk of gum disease. If you do get gum disease and your gums start receding, others will be able to see the tops of the veneers when you smile or talk.

It would help if you did not have to change your diet too much when getting dental veneers, but as is the case with any cosmetic dentistry procedure, watch hard foods. Biting into excessively hard foods can damage the veneer. If this happens, though, our dentists can help repair the veneer and get your smile back to its old self.
